She has represented companies in a variety of industries, including steel, petroleum, chemicals, textiles, high-tech and manufacturing. She has advised major multinational corporations and represented them before the U.S. Customs Service, Department of Commerce, U.S. Trade Representative and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

More recent work has involved providing advice to several African companies interested in exporting to the U.S. This has included following up with CBP concerning specific shipments. Jan has also provided legal advice to companies trading within Africa and with the European Union.
